Returning to the same place…?

60% OF OUR GUESTS ARE REGULAR CLIENTS. THIS IS WHY:

“We normally never go to the same place twice, but we’d love to come back here.” We hear that so often it could almost be our slogan. Sometimes people even say it with a hint of embarrassment, as if returning to a place you enjoyed is somehow boring.

For us, it’s the biggest compliment you can give.

We’ve been here for 21 years now. Some guests have been coming every single year since the very beginning. That says it all. Not because we have a secret formula, but because the combination simply works: a beautiful and well‑kept location, a central position, a relaxed atmosphere, privacy, cleanliness, eco‑minded choices, fair prices, and personal attention.

Are we unique? Not in every way. But our “in‑between size” is. Bigger than a B&B, much smaller than a hotel. That’s exactly what makes Vila do Ouro different.

Our guests roughly fall into four groups: 15% come every year. 15% come two to four years in a row. 30% return whenever they visit the Algarve again. 40% choose a different country or accommodation each year, but still pass on our address.

In short: 60% come back. That’s not boring. It’s logical.

Children certainly don’t think it’s boring to return to the same place. Kids attach themselves quickly to a holiday spot. They make friends, they recognize everything, and they feel free. Some even have group chats where they (and their parents) coordinate when they’ll return. When the kids are happy, the parents usually have a great holiday too.

Adults tend to try new places more often, but still, many of them come back. Why?

Because familiar means relaxing. You know exactly what you’re getting. No risk of ending up somewhere that looked better in the photos than in real life. No “let’s figure everything out” stress. You can start enjoying immediately.

Because familiarity feels welcoming. You arrive and see familiar faces: us, the waiters at your favourite restaurants, the sunbed guys at your favourite beach, the market vendors. They know you, and you know them. It almost feels like meeting family you see once a year.

And because with more time, you truly get to know the Algarve. The first time, people often want to see everything. In the car at nine every morning, ticking off a list, returning exhausted. But you don’t get to know the Algarve in one holiday. We’ve lived here for 21 years and still discover new places. Guests who return see the Algarve more calmly, more deeply, more intensely. Not just the highlights, but the soul of the region.

Life is made of memories. Returning to the same place means reliving memories, each time a little differently. Those memories grow, become more meaningful, and start to feel like part of your life.

We see it often: children who stayed here 18 years ago come back now with children of their own. That might be the most beautiful compliment of all.

And no, we’re not always fully booked. With so many returning guests, it might seem that way, but it isn’t. Some regulars stop coming because their children grow older or because they want to explore the world. That’s normal.

So yes, there is room to discover us. Maybe Vila do Ouro is exactly the right match for you. Maybe this will become your place.

You’re welcome.
