HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE ALGARVE

May 2026 be a year filled with health, love, peace, and — very importantly — time to enjoy a well‑deserved holiday.

No spectacular New Year’s photo this time, except perhaps for the flower lovers. The collage we’re sharing is made up of a few of the flowers currently blooming here at Vila do Ouro. Some of them only appear in winter. Our garden stays colourful throughout the year, but the winter bloom always has something special.

At the moment it’s sunny in the Algarve, but also quite chilly. Temperatures aren’t rising above 12 degrees. Usually we have one or two weeks a year that feel truly cold. In the sun it’s lovely, but once it starts to set, the warmth disappears quickly and it’s time for a warm coat and maybe a hot chocolate. Most tropical plants are now in their winter sleep, but fortunately it never freezes here.

This is our time of preparation. The season of improvements, upgrades, major repairs, painting and restoration — all on top of the usual maintenance. We’re busy with it all, while at the same time processing many enquiries and reservations for 2026.

At the end of winter we’ll gladly share an update on all the improvements.
